Being born into an artistic family, studying sculptures and paintings done by them, as they were displayed in grandmothers home, was a way of life for Sharon.
In an elementary school in Cincinnati, Ohio, her art teacher shared with her his love for the tactile mediums of pastel and clay, which still has a profound effect on her life. Then, an introduction to Degas and Cassatt was to influence her in an ever expanding bloom of experience.
Great music has always created atmospheres of creativity for artists, beginning as a pre-schooler she played to the background music of Walt Disney's great visionary 45rpm records of the Classics and later enjoyed the movie 'Fantasia', the idea of feeling the mood and emotion has grown to a place in her paintings.
"Impressionism as expression, allows art the freedom to be dimensional and still have the movement and emotions within the piece abound. Coloration becomes a definition of light and shadow, form and style, and gives character to the person or place. Mood and emotion flow and fill the art piece with this freedom to feel. A mature show and tell so to speak, definitely anything but the Victorian seen and not heard mindset". ~Sharon Cox-Pulsipher
